Ms. Christy Myers is from Abilene, Texas, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Hardin-Simmons University. While attending Hardin-Simmons, Ms. Myers played violin in the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra, The H-SU Symphony Orchestra, and the Abilene Inter-Collegiate Symphony Orchestra. She also taught private lessons to students in the Abilene I.S.D. 

 

After graduating from H-SU, she was employed by the Wichita Falls ISD as a Strings Specialist. While in Wichita Falls, Ms. Myers was a violinist in the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra.  During her third year of teaching, she was offered a position as a teaching assistant to Dr. Carol Smith, Director of Orchestra Studies at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX.

 

At Sam Houston, Ms. Myers earned her Master of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting with minors in Theory and Violin. She served as conductor and Musical Director of the Huntsville Youth Orchestra, teacher of the after-school strings program in both Conroe and Huntsville and private teacher for students in Klein, Conroe, and Huntsville. After graduation from SHSU, Ms. Myers served as Assistant Orchestra Director at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton.

 

During her four years at NSHS, Ms. Myers’ orchestras received five sweepstakes ratings and numerous excellent and superior awards from various state festivals. In 1997, Ms. Myers was named Director of Orchestras at R.L. Turner HS in Carrollton. During her 20 years at RLT, her orchestras have consistently earned sweepstakes awards as well as numerous excellent and superior ratings at festivals in Texas, Colorado, Florida and Missouri. Ms. Myers is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), the Texas Association of Orchestra Directors (TODA), and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association (TMAA).

Mr. Robert Pierot is the Associate Director of the R.L. Turner Orchestra. Originally from Plano Texas, Mr. Pierot received his Bachelors in Music Education from West Texas A&M. During his undergraduate, he performed with multiple symphonies such as the Amarillo Symphony, Amarillo Opera, and the Midland Odessa Symphony and Chorale. He has also sat principal double bassist with the Roswell Symphony. Mr. Pierot, while in West Texas, worked with the Amarillo Youth Symphony and throughout the Amarillo school district as a Double Bass Coach.

 

In May of 2016, Mr. Pierot was named the Associate Director of Orchestras at R.L. Turner High School. Under his direction, the R.L. Turner Concert/Camerata and Philharmonic Orchestras earned excellent, superior ratings, and sweepstakes awards at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest. 

 

Mr. Pierot is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and the Texas Association of Orchestra Directors (TODA).

 

In his free time, Mr. Pierot enjoys photography with his wife, training for Strongman competitions, or teaching his dog Zeus new tricks.
