The Orchestras at R.L. Turner
Camerata Orchestra
The Camerata Orchestra is Sub Non-Varsity Orchestra at R.L. Turner for students in the 10th-12th Grade. This ensemble performs at the Ice Cream Social Concert, Fall Concert, Holiday Cluster Concert, and the Spring Concert. This Orchestra also combines with the Concert Orchestra to compete at UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest in March. Members of this Orchestra are eligible to participate in the Pit Orchestra and Sinfionetta (Trip) Orchestra.
Concert Orchestra
The Concert Orchestra is Sub Non-Varsity Orchestra at R.L. Turner for Freshman during their fall semester. Members of this ensemble may audition up into the Philharmonic and Symphonic Orchestras at the semester mark. This ensemble performs at the Ice Cream Social Concert, Fall Concert, Holiday Cluster Concert, and the Spring Concert. This Orchestra also combines with the Camerata Orchestra to compete at UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest in March. Members of this Orchestra are eligible to participate in the Pit Orchestra and Sinfionetta (Trip) Orchestra.
Philharmonic Orchestra
The Philharmonic Orchestra is Non-Varsity Orchestra at R.L. Turner. This ensemble performs at the Ice Cream Social Concert, Fall Concert, Holiday Cluster Concert, and the Spring Concert. This Orchestra also competes at UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest in March. Members of this Orchestra are eligible to participate in the Pit Orchestra and Sinfionetta (Trip) Orchestra.
Symphonic Orchestra
The Symphonic Orchestra is the Varsity B Orchestra at R.L. Turner. During the Fall Season, this ensemble is its own Orchestra and performs as "Symphonic" String Orchestra at the Ice Cream Social and Fall Concert. During the Spring Season, this ensemble serves as the string section of the "Symphony" Full Orchestra at UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest and the Spring Concert. Members of this Orchestra are eligible to participate in the Pit Orchestra and Sinfionetta (Trip) Orchestra.
Sinfonia Orchestra
The Sinfonia Orchestra is the Varsity A at R.L. Turner. Members of this ensemble partake in all the responsibility of the Symphonic Orchestra, but also perform separately as the "Sinfonia" String Orchestra at the Ice Cream Social and Fall Concerts. At UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest, these students will perform as both the Varsity String and Varsity Full Orchestras. Members of this Orchestra are eligible to participate in the Pit Orchestra and Sinfionetta (Trip) Orchestra. ​
